Textbook Pink

My project is based on the expression of textbook femininity through fashion images. Through my work, I aim to explore the relationship between fashion and feminine identity, drawing inspiration from studio fashion photographers and the glossy pages of fashion magazines. I aspire to comment that there is beauty and merit to the mainstream fashion aesthetics that we see every day, and conforming is just as empowering as defying them. I use the symbolism of the colour pink as a marker of femininity and a means of reclaiming its significance in contemporary culture. While the perceptions of femininity are constantly evolving, my project is a reminder that beauty can still be found in conformity, showcasing the typical facets of feminine identity within the context of mainstream fashion imagery.
