The Bench

My project focuses on the idea of tourism, consumerism and the shift that this results in over a year. The initial idea for this project was to uncover how consumerism affected towns, specifically Blackpool, before, during and after the tourist season. As the project progressed, this idea shifted into looking at the positive, happy side of tourism versus the emptiness and dirt that it leaves behind in the months that the season is down. The negative impact it has on our surroundings sometimes requires a shift in focus, for us to truly see. The Bench aims to show its viewers a true look into what tourism is, and the mess it can leave behind, which is never advertised.
